LBT coaching addresses 3 aspects of coaching – the physical, the nutritional and the mental. We train our athletes physically to handle the demands of marathon, 5k, 10k, Ironman, half Ironman and Olympic and Sprint and Try-a-Tri. We train the nutrition aspect – we outline exactly what they need since I have already made all of the nutritional errors! And we train the mental aspect – working through the hurdles in training and then maximizing their potential by having them make a list of their assets and their best workouts and their race theme/mantra for race day! It is a gift for us when we see our athletes accomplish their goals. We balance all of this with injury prevention and strength and modify accordingly if an athlete has high injury potential.
As your coach, I can offer you all of my race specific knowledge – nutrition, mental strategies, training strategies, life balancing strategies – everything that I have learned from 20 years of racing and 33 Ironman events and many running races – 5 Boston marathons and 1 NYC marathon. I have experienced every possible situation in racing and training throughout my career – nutritional, mental and physical. I initially balanced racing as a professional athlete with my full-time teaching career and so I know what it means to have a very full life. I will provide you with a completely personalized program specific to your life and revolving around your life – if you have a ‘life situation’ that comes up, it is our job (and pleasure) to make the necessary changes to make your training program work for you. LBT coaching is about helping each athlete do the best that they can with their deck of cards. With a focus on process, our athletes find fulfillment in sport and life.
